CD-Copy Instructions:
- Create the following temporary directories:
- TempDir#1 : C:\TEMP\CD1
- TempDir#2 : C:\TEMP\CD2
- TempDir#3 : C:\TEMP\CAB
- Install the game and copy the JA2.EXE to the C:\TEMP\CAB directory. This needs to be done as the JA2.EXE in
- Use BlindRead to copy the full contents of the original CD#1 to TempDir#1
- Use BlindRead to copy the full contents of the original CD#2 to TempDir#2 - Except for the (hidden) LaserLok directory.
- Extract the I5COMP.ZIP archive to TempDir#3.
- Extract the File Archive to the TempDir#3.
- Copy the DATA1.CAB from TempDir#1 to TempDir#3.
- Open a DOS-Box and change directory (CD) to TempDir#3.
- Execute EXTERMINATE!.EXE to remove the protection from: JA2.EXE
- Remove the Read-Only attribute from DATA1.CAB: attrib -R DATA1.CAB
- Execute: i5comp r DATA1.CAB JA2.EXE
This will Replace the JA2.EXE file in the DATA1.CAB file.
- Replace the DATA1.CAB from TempDir#1 with the one in TempDir#3.
- Burn the contents of TempDir#1 to a 74 minutes CD-R and use this CD-Label: Install_cd
- Burn the contents of TempDir#2 to a 74 minutes CD-R and use this CD-Label: Play_cd
- Play the Game!

There are still some problems with the Fixed EXE as it disables the speech and the subtitles. This make the adventure part of the game unplayable!
Make a backup of the original DATA1.CAB file for future patching! |
